Blakedown Landscapes is proud to have been appointed as the principal contractor for the transformation of Eagle Brewery Wharf on Kingston’s riverside.
Working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and Kingston First, we are delivering a major public realm improvement that will create a welcoming and vibrant space for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
The project will enhance the riverside setting with the introduction of a new play trail featuring stepping logs, climbing ropes, and a balancing beam, alongside accessible public seating including bespoke timber seating pods and new lighting.
The scheme will also see the installation of new metal railings along the riverfront, as well as extensive planting - trees, hedging, shrubs, herbaceous beds, and meadow and swale planting - contributing to a greener and more biodiverse urban environment. The space will reopen this summer.
This transformation builds on the vision developed through extensive consultation with local residents, businesses, and community groups in 2023. The shared enthusiasm for enhancing Eagle Brewery Wharf has shaped a design that respects the site’s heritage while making it a more accessible and attractive destination. The project aligns with the council’s commitment to improving Kingston’s public spaces and strengthening connections with nature along the riverside.
Cllr Alison Holt, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Economic Development and Leisure said: “We have worked closely with our communities to create an exciting scheme based on their feedback, and I am delighted that works are underway to transform this section of the riverside.
Thank you to our partners Kingston First, and everyone that got involved to let us know their thoughts. I am looking forward to this new space, focused on wellbeing and biodiversity, being enjoyed to its fullest this summer.”
Chris Wellbelove, Managing Director of Blakedown Landscapes, said: "At Blakedown, we take great pride in delivering high-quality landscapes that enhance public spaces and serve local communities for years to come. With work now underway at Eagle Brewery Wharf, we’re looking forward to transforming this space in collaboration with the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames - creating a lasting legacy that balances functionality, sustainability, and community needs.
